BOTEJYU, Japan’s Renowned Okonomiyaki Pioneer and Premier Specialty Restaurant, Now in the Philippines

The much-awaited Philippine debut of Japan’s renowned premier specialty restaurant, BOTEJYU, is happening this July. Popularly known as the pioneer and innovator of the legendary Okonomiyaki, and the inventor of Okosoba (also known as “modernyaki”), BOTEJYU has been at the forefront of the restaurant industry serving authentic Japanese cuisine for the past 70 years.

BOTEJYUwas born in the gourmet city of Tamade, Osaka in 1946 as an okonomiyaki specialty restaurant. The restaurant name “Botejyu” originates from the Japanese onomatopoeia of the sound “bote” of the okonomiyaki being flipped and the sizzling sound “jyu” of it cooking on the hot teppan griddle. The common practice of flavoring okonomiyaki with mayonnaise and the concept of okosoba (modern-yaki), combining okonomiyaki and yakisoba, were also first introduced by BOTEJYU.

BOTEJYU has taken the initiative in leading the development of Osaka food culture and in making the Osaka cuisine known in Japan as well as in other countries. In meeting global needs, BOTEJYU has  collaborated with local regions and major manufacturers to deliver “the authentic taste of Japanese food to people around the world”. From its okonomiyaki and okosoba roots, the BOTEJYU group has expanded to include in its portfolio the local specialty gourmet dishes from all over the country,  such as the no.1 karaage in Japan from Oita prefecture and the famous chicken ramen from Kyoto.Japan’s okonomiyaki pioneer is indeed bent on serving not just the best “Okos” but the best of Japanese cuisine as well.

In addition to the impressive store network of more than 100 outlets all over Japan, the BOTEJYU group has been aggressively opening more specialty restaurants in other Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam and now, it has finally arrived on Philippine shores.
