Pancreatic Elastase: What does your gut tell you?

Does your stomach ache, but you ignore it? Maybe you’re thinking that it was something you ate? And that the pain will go away in no time?

But if your stomach pain is accompanied by diarrhea, gas, bloating, and steatorrhea (foul-smelling, greasy stools that are difficult to flush), then maybe you have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). Sometimes called Pancreatic Insufficiency, EPI is the inability to break down and digest food properly. And because EPIaffects protein, carbohydrate, and fat maldigestion, people with EPI are prone to weight loss.

You don’t have to suffer much longer. Find out if you have EPI by taking the Pancreatic Elastase Stool Test, now available at Hi-Precision Diagnostics. Also called Fecal Elastase, it is a stool test which measures the amount of elastase in stool (feces) to help evaluate whether a person's pancreas is functioning normally.

Pancreatic Elastase requires only a small stool sample for testing. It is pancreas-specific, stable during intestinal transit, and uses monoclonal antibodies. The test is not affected by diet, food, or enzyme therapy.
Pancreatic Elastase is also used for diagnosis or exclusion of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency caused by chronic pancreatitis, diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis (gallstones), cystic fibrosis, pancreatic cancer, papillary stenosis, and celiac disease.
